It has total of 120 floors in the building. It came in operation from 2012. The cost of making it took hefty amount of 15 billion dollars which makes it the most expensive building in the world. The construction of Abraj Al-Bait Clock tower started in 2004 and was completed in 2011. Both the architect and structural engineer of the building are SL Rasch and Dar Al-Handasah.

The construction of shanghai tower started in 6th September 2014 and was completed in 18th February 2015. The architect of the building is Jun Xia and the structural engineers are from Thornton Tomastti Cosentini Associates.
